There are thousands of members in the wide orchid family. We have butterflies, monkeys, but even the most strange shaped and colorful ones can't compare with the paphiopedilum. This is UFO...seriously, the alien one. Or maybe the king.....everything in that plant is amazing and strange. There are "only" about 65 varieties of it, and the origins of the plant is Asia, more specifically from Indonesia to south parts of China. They are also called "slipper orchids" because of the unique pouch. It is easy to grow, in spring and summer should be regularly supplied with water. Let the compost to dry out a little between watering and avoid over watering. Reduce watering in autumn and winter. These extraordinary plants have flowers of heavy substance and can last from one to three months.
